Early Signs of Pregnancy: What are the signs you should watch out for?

My heart was racing as I nailed my eyes on the white rectangular kit laid on the counter top while praying for only one red line. Then I realized right at that moment that I wanted to be a mother. So I took back my words and instead prayed even harder for the second vertical line to appear in shouting red. And yes, it was a joy knowing that I was bearing a new life in me - from my flesh and blood.

Before I resort to pregnancy kits during my first, there were already obvious signs indicating that I'm pregnant. But of course, I was too naive to notice that until my father raised that matter. So what are the early signs that you should watch out for if you are suspecting to be pregnant?

  • If you are missing your monthly period. This one is easy. If you have a regular menstrual period you should start tracking especially when you're sexually active. Missing the red days even for few days can already be a sign of pregnancy granting that you're already doing "it" without any contraception.
  • Always too tired. It is as if your body has overworked and all you'd want is a nice long sleep.
  • Bleeding or spotting. I haven't experienced this but this sign usually occurs about 6-12 days after the implantation of the embryo into the uterine wall.
  • Changes in breasts. Your breasts would be tender to touch or could be sore or swollen.
  • Headaches. If you are having light headaches and there are no actual reasons that yo can think of that may have caused it ( like stress, weather changes, etc. ) then you could be pregnant. This is due to the sudden rise of hormones in your body.
  • Morning sickness. You usually see this on tv when a character is unknowingly pregnant. But yes, this is true. It often shows up between 2-8 weeks after conception. It feels like you want to throw up when you eat or even smell strong aromas. And in my case during my second pregnancy, I always keep a small plastic bag handy since I often vomit while on my way to work. Believe me, travelling at that time was seriously a challenge for me.
Signs or symptoms of pregnancy could vary to every woman. If I miss something or you want to share the early signs you've gone through, ping me so we can share it to all mommies-to-be out there.

Cheers to us Mommies!
